Bio
Originally from Minneapolis, Dean studied at the Aveda Institute and worked for Aveda for several years. Through his early years with Aveda his interest for editorial work and advanced education became a passionate focus. Growing restless in the Twin Cities he decided it was time to test his skill-set out west. The next 10 years were spent in Seattle, WA where He worked for Gene Juarez a renowned salon in the industry. He studied under the creative director Christophe Soltane and would become a senior stylist, platform and editorial artist, and advanced training educator. Opportunities with Interqoiffure, Luigie Mareno, Bumble and Bumble’s artistic team and associates further fueled his dedication to the craft. Seattle also fed his love for the visual arts and would go on to study photography at PCNW. He would exhibit several bodies of multimedia work in Seattle and Paris, and become the art curator to the downtown Gene juarez location. In 2008 Dean began working with the innovative upscale Salon Seven, where he has honed his skill with color, product knowledge and complete integration of the industry. With his recent move back to the Twin Cities he has carved his own way to be able to work both in Minneapolis and Seattle and returns to Seattle every six weeks to continue his work with Salon Seven as an educator and to serve his clientele. Since his return in 2010 he has had the privilege of working with local fashion favorite events, Voltage 2011, Retrorama 2010-11, and the Minneapolis Institute of Arts “The Art Of Hair.” In September 2011 Dean has also added New York Fashion Week to his list of accomplishments. Working under the direction of world renowned stylist Odile Gilbert, he had the privilege of styling shows for Monique Lhuillier, Jill Stuart and Adam 2012 spring collections. In 2012 Dean will began educating as a Haigo Artist for Shu Uemura and has set goals to continue working at NYFW and in the fashion community in Minneapolis.
